Lee Lumber's Rick Baumgarten Named Chairman of NLBMDA
Rick Baumgarten, president of Chicago-based Lee Lumber & Building Material Corp., was recently named chairman of the National Lumber & Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA). Baumgarten will assume the Chairmanship at the associations annual meeting in Chicago, October 12.
The 8,000-member NLBMDA is comprised of 20 federated regional associations dedicated to preserving the interests of independent lumber dealers and small businesses in governmental affairs. The association also sponsors educational programs for independent lumber dealers and their employees.
Additionally, the NLBMDA has a Manufacturers' Council comprised of industry leaders active. NLBMDA also has a National Advisory Council which includes the nine largest contractor oriented chain yards.
The association is active in lobbying for an end to estate taxes and tariffs on Canadian lumber, as well as issues regarding the health and preservation of our forests.
The association also works in conjunction with other industry organizations such as the Temperate Forest Foundation to educate people about the lumber industry and our nation's forests.
